01:02 PM EDT, 04/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) said Monday it is expanding its commitment to hydrogen technology by introducing heavy-duty hydrogen trucks and investing in hydrogen infrastructure.
The company will roll out hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric Class 8 heavy-duty trucks to reduce the number of diesel-powered tractor trailers servicing its North America Parts Center California, Jordan Choby, Toyota ( TM ) group vice president of powertrain engineering, said at the 2025 Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in in Anaheim, California.
To support the new hydrogen trucks, Toyota ( TM ) plans to build a new hydrogen fueling station at the center, the company said, adding that it is working with Air Liquide and Iwatani to strengthen fueling infrastructure.
Toyota ( TM ) also debuted its next-generation fuel cell technology, the Gen 3 FC system, which is expected to be 20% more efficient and 20% more powerful than the current system, the company said.
Toyota ( TM ) shares were 2.4% higher in recent trading.
