07:19 AM EDT, 05/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) said Thursday that its global sales and production for April fell 0.5% year-on-year after being dragged by declines in Japan and China.

Sales in North America were up nearly 16% during the month, whereas sales in China were down 27% as automakers face "an intensifying price competition" in the country, Toyota ( TM ) said.

Sales in Japan were down 14% due to temporary production halts of its Prius model, the company said.
