Toyota Motor Halts Production in Mexico Plant Hit by Labor Shortage, Reuters Reports
May 17, 2024 2:34 AM

05:08 AM EDT, 05/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) was forced to repeatedly halt production at a Mexico facility where it manufactures the Tacoma pickup truck in February and March due to local labor shortages and technical issues, Reuters reported Friday, citing unnamed people with knowledge of the automaker's operations.

Internal documents from Toyota ( TM ) and suppliers, which Reuters reviewed, corroborated these stoppages for a total of 19 days.

In a letter to its North American supplier network in late April that was reviewed by Reuters, the automaker acknowledged the "frequent production halts" that were causing "inconvenience and concern." In response, Toyota ( TM ) requested details on the challenges and support its North American suppliers required, the report added.
