10:38 AM EST, 11/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) announced plans to invest up to an additional $10 billion in the US over the next five years, coinciding with the launch of battery production at its $14 billion facility in Liberty, North Carolina.
The 1,850-acre site will serve as the hub for developing and producing lithium-ion batteries for the portfolio of electrified vehicles, Toyota ( TM ) said Wednesday in a statement.
The plant has 14 battery production lines supporting hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, the company said.
"Today's launch of Toyota's ( TM ) first US battery plant and additional US investment up to $10 billion marks a pivotal moment in our company's history," Ted Ogawa, president and chief executive officer of Toyota Motor North America, said in the statement.
