06:40 AM EDT, 06/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of a safety recall of up to 145,254 vehicles as driver's side curtain airbags "may not unroll as intended and could partially deploy outside of an open window," the auto safety regulator said on Tuesday.
Affected vehicle models are 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, Grand Highlander Hybrid, Lexus TX350, TX500 Hybrid, and TX550 Hybrid+ vehicles, NHTSA said.
Improperly deployed side curtain air bags can reduce occupant protection during a crash and increase the risk of injury, NHTSA said, adding that Toyota ( TM ) is developing a remedy and plans to notify owners of the safety risk between Aug. 5 and Aug. 19.
