Toyota Motor's February Global Sales Decrease on Japan, China Slump
Mar 28, 2024 5:32 AM

08:04 AM EDT, 03/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) said Thursday its worldwide sales in February dropped 6.9% year on year, impacted by slowdowns in Japan and China.

Sales in Japan were down 33% for the month, Toyota ( TM ) said, noting that the drop followed a safety test scandal at its small car unit Daihatsu.

China sales fell 36% due to "intensifying sales competition" in the country, as well as the impact of Lunar Year holidays, the carmaker said.

Meanwhile, US sales had increased 16% and those in Europe were up 14%, according to the company.
