10:18 AM EDT, 07/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor ( TM ) said Tuesday that its worldwide sales, including Daihatsu and Hino, in H1 fell 4.7% year over year to about 5.2 million vehicles.

The Japanese automaker said overseas sales increased 3.1% to 4.3 million vehicles.

Toyota ( TM ) said worldwide production was down 9.8% to nearly 5.1 million vehicles, with production in Japan falling roughly 19% to 1.7 million vehicles.

The company attributed the decrease in sales and production in H1 to declines in Japan and China.

In June, worldwide sales dropped 5.8% year over year to 912,971 vehicles.

Shares of the company rose 1.3% in recent trading.
