08:37 AM EDT, 06/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Transat (TRZ.TO), an airline that operates as Air Transit, said on Tuesday that it will provide support to Flash Forest, a Canadian aerial reforestation company.
Through the partnership, Flash Forest, which rebuilds forests through a data-driven and biodiversity-centric approach, will plant 29 hectares of forest over the coming days in the Assinica National Park.
By 2025, Transat said it will have helped finance the replanting of a forest devastated by wildfires with more than 70,000 trees on 48 hectares. The company said this will allow for the sequestration of nearly 29,411 tonnes of CO2 over the course of the trees' lifetime.
Transat's share price fell 1.9% yesterday to $2.58.
