10:42 AM EDT, 09/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Transocean ( RIG ) said Wednesday that it secured an ultra-deepwater drillship contract from Reliance Industries for the Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 project, covering six wells offshore India.

The 300-day program is slated to start in Q2 2026 and is expected to contribute about $123 million in backlog, excluding additional services and a mobilization fee, Transocean ( RIG ) said.

The award has several options, Transocean ( RIG ) said, adding that if all options are exercised the rig would stay in India through the end of 2029.
