01:24 PM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- TransUnion ( TRU ) said personal information of about 4.5 million customers was compromised in a data breach on July 28, according to a filing with the office of Maine's attorney general.
The credit reporting company said it discovered the breach on July 30, adding that no credit information was accessed.
TransUnion ( TRU ) told MT Newswires that the company quickly contained the issue, which affected a third-party application serving its US consumer support operations and did not involve its core credit database.
The company is working with law enforcement, has engaged third-party experts for an independent forensics review, and will notify affected consumers and provide them with credit monitoring services.
