Trump Announces 'Substantial Tariffs' on Furniture Imports

09:25 AM EDT, 09/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US President Donald Trump on Monday announced plans to impose "substantial tariffs" on countries that don't make furniture in the US.

"In order to make North Carolina, which has completely lost its furniture business to China, and other Countries, GREAT again, I will be imposing substantial Tariffs on any Country that does not make its furniture in the United States. Details to follow," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

More details on how companies and countries could be impacted were not available.
