Trump Defends Family Business Dealings, Says Children Face Broad Conflict Scrutiny
Jul 2, 2026 4:42 PM

07:16 PM EDT, 07/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- President Donald Trump defended his family's business dealings, saying his children face unusually broad scrutiny because presidential decisions affect nearly every part of the economy, CNBC reported Thursday.

Trump said there was "nothing illegal" or "wrong" with his family's cryptocurrency venture after his annual financial disclosure showed hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto-related income in 2025.

He also said federal conflict-of-interest laws do not require the president or vice president to recuse themselves from decisions that could affect their financial interests.

In the interview, Trump also discussed the economy, the Federal Reserve, Iran, the Supreme Court and the 2026 midterm elections.
