Trump Dismisses Reports on Leaving G7 Summit Early to Broker Israel-Iran Ceasefire; Warns Tehran Residents to Evacuate
Jun 17, 2025 3:58 AM

06:44 AM EDT, 06/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US President Donald Trump dismissed late Monday reports that he was leaving the Group of Seven summit in Canada a day early to work on a "cease fire" between Israel and Iran as "highly fabricated, fake news".

"If they want to talk, they know how to reach me," Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform. "They should have taken the deal that was on the table - Would have saved a lot of lives."

Trump indicated that his early departure was due to matters "much bigger" than planning a ceasefire between the two sides.

The departure came after Trump's earlier warning urging Tehran residents to evacuate in anticipation of Israeli strikes on nuclear and military targets.

"Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON," Trump wrote in a separate social media post. "I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!"

The posts came as fighting between Tehran and Tel Aviv continued for a fourth day on Monday.
