Trump Extends Deadline of TikTok US Asset Sale to September
Jun 20, 2025 4:58 AM

07:40 AM EDT, 06/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for the sale of the US assets of ByteDance's short-video app TikTok to Sept. 17, according to an executive order published Thursday.

ByteDance had a June 19 deadline to sell TikTok's US assets in accord with a US law and Trump has already twice extended the deadline, according to multiple media reports.

The executive order states that the US Justice Department "shall take no action" enforcing the law or "impose any penalties against any entity for any noncompliance."

"We are grateful for President Trump's leadership and support in ensuring that TikTok continues to be available," TikTok said in a statement posted on its website.
