06:00 AM EST, 02/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Donald Trump said Thursday that tariffs scheduled for March 4 will proceed as planned, with an additional 10% tariff on China due to its role in supplying fentanyl and other drugs.
Trump stated that drugs from China, often entering through Mexico and Canada, have contributed to over 100,000 deaths in the past year.
He described the impact of these substances as devastating to families and said the US cannot allow the crisis to continue unchecked.
The additional tariffs are intended to pressure China to curb the production and supply of these drugs, Trump said.
