Oct 22, 2025 10:28 AM

WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump

said the chief executives of General Motors Co ( GM ) and Ford Motor Co ( F )

called to thank him on Wednesday for putting tariffs on mid- and

large-sized trucks, saying their companies stock has soared.

"They told me that, without Tariffs, it would be a very

hard, long 'slog' for Truck and Car Manufacturers in the United

States," he said in a Truth Social post. Trump last week set new

25% tariffs on imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks and parts

starting November 1.
