Trump Says He Won't Permit Defense Contractors to Issue Dividends, Buybacks

02:38 PM EST, 01/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US President Donald Trump said Wednesday on Truth Social he will no longer allow defense contractors to issue dividends or stock buybacks until issues with the delivery and maintenance of military equipment "are rectified."

Trump also said defense company executives should not be allowed to make over $5 million.

Shares of the defense contractors Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) , Northrop Grumman ( NOC ) and General Dynamics ( GD ) shares were down about 1%, 2.1% and 1.6%, respectively, in recent trading. RTX (RTX) fell 0.3% and Boeing ( BA ) rose 0.1%.
