Trump says it sounds like China has approved TikTok deal
Sep 20, 2025 8:27 PM

(Reuters) -President Donald Trump told Fox News on Thursday that it sounded like China had approved a deal on TikTok, after announcing an agreement earlier this week with China that would keep the short-video app operating in the U.S.

"We had a very good meeting the other day, and it sounds like they've approved TikTok," he told "The Story with Martha MacCallum" program.

China on Wednesday called the framework deal reached in Madrid to switch TikTok to U.S.-controlled ownership a "win-win" and said it would review TikTok's technology exports and intellectual property licensing, in a state media editorial.

Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are due to speak on Friday.
