05:04 AM EDT, 07/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday to impose tariffs on 14 countries, effective Aug. 1.
The new rates include a 25% tariff on Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Malaysia and Tunisia, 30% tariffs on Bosnia-Herzegovina and South Africa, a 32% tariff on Indonesia, 35% tariffs on Bangladesh and Serbia, 36% tariffs on Cambodia and Thailand, and 40% tariffs on Laos and Myanmar.
The White House said Trump may send more letters on country-specific tariffs in the "coming days and weeks."
"Countries that aren't serious about addressing the tariff and non-tariff trade barriers that impede American exports and harm American workers, farmers, and businesses are facing the consequences," the White House said.
