08:23 AM EDT, 03/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- President Donald Trump said Thursday in a social media post that the US will impose a 200% tariff on all alcohol products coming from the EU if a European tariff placed on US whiskey is not rescinded.

"If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES," Trump said on Truth Social. "This will be great for the Wine and Champagne businesses in the U.S."
