Feb 10, 2025 2:38 PM

SYDNEY (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed to consider an exemption for Australia over steel and aluminium tariffs, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Tuesday.

"It was a very constructive and warm discussion .. with President Trump," Albanese said during a media conference after his phone conversation with Trump.

Trump said on Sunday he will introduce new 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminium imports into the U.S., on top of existing metals duties, in another major escalation of his trade policy overhaul.
