Trump victory could push Europe to spend more on defense, Citi exec says
Mar 7, 2024 12:57 PM

MEXICO CITY, March 7 (Reuters) - If former U.S.

President Donald Trump is once again elected this year, European

countries will shift more of their spending toward defense, Citi

head of international Ernesto Torres said on Thursday.

"If the U.S. elections are in favor of candidate Trump, that

will mean a readjustment in Europe's spending toward defense,

minimizing other areas and impacting the continent's future

development," Torres said at an event hosted by Citi's Mexico

unit.
