Trump's Trade Tariffs "Misstep" Could Backfire, Says Rosenberg Research
Feb 3, 2025 5:36 AM

08:21 AM EST, 02/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- United States President Donald Trump over the weekend ordered that all goods imported from Canada and Mexico will be subject to a 25% tariff, except Canadian energy products, which will face a 10% hike, noted Rosenberg Research.

The Trump orders also placed a 10% tariff on Chinese goods.

Trump has overreached, in Rosenberg's opinion. The U.S. president has made a "huge misstep."

In the next few months and quarters, U.S. households will no longer be blaming former President Joe Biden for an inflation breakout, especially for goods that are essentials, stated Rosenberg. They will be blaming the current president.

As Trumo's polls continue to slide, what ends up getting jeopardized is his ambitious and costly fiscal agenda as the Republican hawks in the House very likely grow more emboldened and less intimidated, added Rosenberg.
