07:20 AM EDT, 10/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TRX Gold ( TRX ) on Tuesday said it has completed a metallurgical variability study at the Buckreef gold project in Tanzania, with results confirming excellent gold recovery rates for sulphide ore processing.

The results showed that a finer grind size leads to a higher gold recovery. The gold recovery rate increased from 81.2% to 92.5% as the grind became finer.

For the 15 composites tested, recovery rates ranged from 79.9% to 87%, consistent with current operations.

The company is developing finer grinding initiatives to achieve gold recoveries above 90% for the sulphide ore.

The sulphide ore portion of the project encompasses about 90% of the Buckreef Main Zone's measured and indicated mineral resources.

"These results allow us to increase the profitability of the Buckreef Gold mining operation, an already high-margin operation, by means of simple milling circuit optimization and equipment redundancy," said TRX Gold ( TRX ) CEO Stephen Mullowney.
