Turkey's Competition Authority Fines Alphabet's Google Over Hotel Search Results
May 16, 2024 4:35 AM

07:11 AM EDT, 05/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Turkey's competition authority said Thursday that it has decided to fine Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) over its alleged failure to provide a fair environment for hotel and accommodation searches, local media reported Thursday.

The authority said it would fine the company "five ten-thousandths of its 2023 revenue until it complies with the competition board's decision, starting from April 15," Daily Sabah reported.

The fine was imposed as Google's ( GOOG ) previously taken measures to address the competition authority's concerns about the local search services did not include hotel inquiries, Daily Sabah reported, citing a statement from the watchdog.

Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
