Uber, Lucid, Nuro to Launch Driverless Ride Service in San Francisco
Oct 29, 2025 6:33 AM

09:01 AM EDT, 10/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Uber Technologies ( UBER ) and its partners Lucid and Nuro plan to provide driverless rides in San Francisco and the wider Bay Area next year, news outlets reported Wednesday.

Street tests of the Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro's self-driving technology are underway after the cars were delivered last month, Bloomberg reported, citing a Nuro spokesperson said.

Bloomberg reported that the launch will challenge Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Waymo, which has already launched autonomous taxi service in San Francisco.

Uber ( UBER ), Lucid, and Nuro did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
