Uber to Buy Controlling Stake in Turkish Food Delivery Platform Trendyol Go for $700 Million
May 26, 2025 2:09 AM

12:52 PM EDT, 05/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Uber Technologies ( UBER ) said Tuesday it agreed to acquire an 85% stake in Trendyol Group's Turkish food and grocery delivery platform Trendyol Go for about $700 million in cash.

Trendyol Go delivered more than 200 million orders last year, generating gross bookings of $2 billion, representing an annual increase of more than 50%, Uber ( UBER ) said in a regulatory filing. The US ride-hailing company expects the deal to close in the second half of 2025 and be accretive to its growth.

Trendyol Go serves customers from more than 90,000 restaurants and markets through 19,000 couriers, Trendyol Group said in a statement.

"Uber ( UBER ) and Trendyol Go coming together will elevate the delivery sector in Turkiye for consumers, couriers, restaurants and retailers, especially small and family-owned businesses," Uber ( UBER ) Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi said in the statement.

Trendyol Group President Caglayan Cetin said that Trendyol Go is expected to continue to grow and strengthen with its new structure.

In a separate statement, Uber ( UBER ) and Pony AI (PONY) said they have formed a partnership to deploy the Chinese autonomous vehicle technology company's Robotaxis onto the Uber ( UBER ) platform.

The partnership is expected to initially launch in a "key market" in the Middle East later in 2025, with plans to expand to other international markets in the future, the companies said. During the initial pilot phase, a safety operator will be onboard the vehicle until the partnership's fully autonomous commercial launch.

Pony AI's US-listed shares were up nearly 35% in Tuesday afternoon trade, while Uber ( UBER ) rose 0.6%.

Uber ( UBER ) is scheduled to report its first-quarter financial results Wednesday. The consensus on FactSet is for GAAP earnings of $0.51 a share on sales of $11.63 billion. Gross bookings are estimated at $43.05 billion.

In March, Uber ( UBER ) terminated its proposed $950 million deal to acquire Delivery Hero's Foodpanda business in Taiwan amid regulatory hurdles.
