07:39 AM EDT, 05/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The UK Competition and Markets Authority said Friday it has determined that Microsoft's ( MSFT ) partnership with French startup Mistral AI does not qualify for investigation.

In late February, Microsoft ( MSFT ) said it entered into a multi-year partnership with generative artificial intelligence Mistral AI, under which the startup would be provided an access to Azure's AI infrastructure.

Earlier in April, CMA said it was considering whether Microsoft's ( MSFT ) partnership with Mistral AI had resulted in the creation of a relevant merger situation under the merger provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002 and, if so, whether it could result in "a substantial lessening of competition" in the country.
