July 24 (Reuters) - Events organiser Informa ( IFPJF )

said on Wednesday it has offered to buy Cannes Lions Festival

owner Ascential ( AIAPF ) for about 1.2 billion pounds ($1.6

billion), as it looks to add the prominent advertising industry

conference to its portfolio.
