UK's Competition Regulator Closes Probe Into Google's Suspected Anti-Competitive Conduct
Aug 21, 2024 6:50 AM

07:03 AM EDT, 08/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The UK Competition and Markets Authority, or CMA, said Wednesday that it has closed its investigation into the suspected anti-competitive conduct of Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) as the case "no longer constitutes an administrative priority" for the regulator.

The probe was opened in June 2022 over Google's ( GOOG ) suspected violation of certain competition laws related to its distribution of native applications on Android devices in the UK, according to the CMA.

The investigation's closure does not mean the CMA has decided on whether Google ( GOOG ) is in violation of the Competition Act and the regulator said it will continue to monitor the company's conduct in the market.

Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
