UniFirst Updates Fiscal 2025 Outlook After Second-Quarter Results Rise
Apr 2, 2025 7:45 AM

10:18 AM EDT, 04/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- UniFirst ( UNF ) raised its full-year earnings outlook after its fiscal second-quarter profit rose year over year, though the uniform rental company trimmed its revenue guidance.

UniFirst ( UNF ) now expects fiscal 2025 earnings per share between $7.30 and $7.70, compared with its prior forecast of $6.79 to $7.19. Three analysts polled by FactSet currently forecast GAAP EPS of $7.17. UniFirst ( UNF ) now projects revenue in the range of $2.422 billion and $2.432 billion, compared with $2.425 billion and $2.44 billion. Three analysts are looking for $2.431 billion.

The revised EPS guidance still indicates a weaker bottom line than the $7.77 figure reported for fiscal 2024.

The earnings outlook "reflects improved anticipated operating income in our core laundry operations and an assumption that our key initiative costs in fiscal 2025 will approximate $12 million, revised down from prior estimates," Chief Executive Steven Sintros said in a statement. He was referring to costs attributable to customer relationship management computer system and enterprise resource planning projects.

The updated revenue projection takes into account the anticipated negative impact of the Canadian dollar exchange rate versus, Sintros said.

For the three months ended March 1, EPS rose to $1.31 from $1.09 a year earlier, compared with three analysts' estimate of $1.20. Revenue increased 1.9% to $602.2 million, trailing analysts' view of $602.8 million.

"We are pleased with the results from our second quarter, which were largely in line with our expectations," Sintros said. "We are excited that our investments in the business are starting to show returns in several areas, including improved profitability, cash flow and overall operational execution."

The company's core laundry operations contributed $530.4 million in revenue, up 1.5% year over year. Revenue in the specialty garments segment, which consists of nuclear decontamination and cleanroom operations, rose 2.2% to $44.4 million, driven by gains from European nuclear operations.

Cintas (CTAS) recently terminated discussions about a potential acquisition of UniFirst ( UNF ).
