11:14 AM EST, 11/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Union Pacific ( UNP ) and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers said Monday they have reached an agreement that guarantees job security for union employees after company merges with Norfolk Southern ( NSC ) .

Workers who are employed at both Union Pacific ( UNP ) and Norfolk Southern ( NSC ) at the time of the merger will have lifetime job security, subject to the usual requirements for continued employment, the company and union said.
