Union Pacific Reaches Agreement With Third Union on Job Protection After Merger

11:43 AM EST, 11/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Union Pacific ( UNP ) said Monday that it has reached an agreement with the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen that provides a commitment of job security for workers following its merger with Norfolk Southern ( NSC ) .

Union Pacific ( UNP ) and Norfolk Southern ( NSC ) said Friday their shareholders have approved the merger of the two rail companies.

The Brotherhood of Railway Carmen is the third union that has reached an agreement with Union Pacific ( UNP ) for job protection, the company said. The other two unions are the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation workers - Transportation Division, and the National Conference of Firemen and Oilers.
