01:20 PM EDT, 04/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- United Airlines (UAL) said Monday it's pushing back the debut of two new international routes as a result of growth restrictions imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration amid a safety review.
"As the FAA said in their statement on March 22, they've paused some certification activities, and this schedule change is a consequence of that," a United representative said in an email.
The airline delayed a route between Tokyo and Cebu, Philippines to Oct. 27, while a route between Newark and Faro, Portugal, was postponed until the summer of 2025.
The airline said travelers impacted by the change can receive full refunds or can rebook travel on one of United's partner airlines without a fee.
Shares of United rose 1.2% in recent trading Monday.
