11:27 AM EDT, 10/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- United Airlines (UAL) is not expecting the strike at Boeing ( BA ) , the carrier's primary aircraft supplier, to have a lasting impact on operations, a United executive said on Thursday.
"At the moment, we're not expecting any impact for summer 2025," Patrick Quayle, United's senior vice president of international network planning and alliances, said Thursday at an event to discuss an expansion of the airline's transatlantic schedule next summer. "I'm confident that they'll get it resolved," he said.
The Boeing ( BA ) strike started on Sept. 13 when about 33,000 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers walked off their jobs. On Wednesday, Boeing ( BA ) pulled its offer of a 30% pay raise, saying that "further negotiations do not make sense at this point."
More than 80% of United's nearly 1,000 jets in its active fleet are made by Boeing ( BA ), according to the Airfleets.net website.
The airline has planned to swap out some of its older Boeing 757 jetliners for Airbus A321XLR long-distance jets, although Quayle said Thursday the airline isn't expecting delivery of the new Airbus' narrowbody aircraft until 2026, Reuters reported.
United shares recently were 1.5% higher in mid-morning trade on Thursday.
