United Airlines flight diverts to LAX after losing a tire

March 7 (Reuters) - A United Airlines flight

headed for Japan landed safely on Thursday at Los Angeles

International Airport after losing a tire mid-air following

takeoff from San Francisco, the carrier said in a statement.

United said it is arranging for a new aircraft to continue

the trip for the 249 people who were on board the Boeing

B777-200 jet.
