United Airlines Says Flight Delays in US Caused by Technical Issue
Aug 7, 2025 7:48 AM

10:19 AM EDT, 08/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- United Airlines (UAL) said Thursday a technology issue grounded its aircraft in the US for a few hours on Wednesday evening.

The issue was resolved 6:12 pm ET on Wednesday, but residual delays continued into the night, the airline told MT Newswires via email.

The disruption was related to its Unimatic system, which houses information about each flight that is then fed to other systems, according to the airline.

United said it is treating the issue as a "controllable delay," which means it paid customer expenses such as hotels if applicable.

As of 10:25 pm ET on Wednesday, 1,038, or 34%, of United flights had been delayed, Reuters reported, citing flight tracking data from FlightAware.
