02:02 PM EDT, 08/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- United Airlines (UAL) and the Teamsters started talks on a collective bargaining agreement to cover 10,000 aviation maintenance workers and related employees nationwide, the union said Tuesday.
"This contract needs to recognize and reward our members with the improved wages, benefits and protections they deserve," Teamsters General President Sean O'Brien said in a statement.
The union said it would hold talks until Wednesday and meet airline representatives again Aug. 20-22 in Denver.
United Airlines didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
The company's shares rose 4.1% in recent trading Tuesday.
