05:58 AM EDT, 03/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- United Microelectronics ( UMC ) , HyperLight, and Wavetek said Friday they partnered with Jabil ( JBL ) to accelerate the integration of thin-film lithium niobate photonics into large-scale artificial intelligence network connections.
The collaboration merges HyperLight's photonic designs with United Microelectronics' ( UMC ) wafer production and Jabil's ( JBL ) high-volume assembly to manufacture next-generation optical modules, the companies said.
The hardware reduces optical complexity and lowers laser requirements to deliver significant power savings compared to traditional technologies, they said.
The companies also said the module-level efficiency improvements allow facility operators to reallocate power capacity toward higher processor density and larger computing clusters.
