02:12 PM EDT, 03/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- UnitedHealth Group ( UNH ) is under investigation from the US Department of Health & Human Services following a cyberattack on the company's Change Healthcare unit in late February, according to a statement Wednesday from the agency's Office for Civil Rights.

The OCR will probe whether the attack led to a breach of protected health information and whether the entities were in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act which governs patients' private data.

"OCR's interest in other entities that have partnered with Change Healthcare and UHG is secondary," the OCR said in a statement.

UnitedHealth Group ( UNH ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.

The company's stock was little changed in recent Wednesday trading.
