09:20 AM EDT, 03/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- UnitedHealth Group's ( UNH ) Optum Rx unit said Wednesday that it is eliminating as much as 25% of prescription drug reauthorizations, or more than 10% of previous pharmacy authorizations.

The company said the move covers 80 drugs, and that it will seek to expand the list over time.

Optum Rx said some reauthorizations are needed for drugs with safety concerns, or require ongoing monitoring for dose adjustments, require additional tests, or may have alternative therapies to consider.
