After staying under lockdown for 75 days, India is starting to gradually reopen. The unlock-one guidelines issued by the Home Ministry have made it possible for malls, hotels, restaurants, and places of worship to re-open with proper safety measures.
State Governments have been given the flexibility to decided what services should restart and when. For instance, Maharashtra, which crossed China with nearly 86,000 infections, has not allowed malls to open. Restaurants too have been limited to home delivery and takeaways. Delhi has decided to reopen malls and restaurants but, hotels and banquet halls will remain shut.
The restaurants' new normal is also an area of focus. Manu Chandra, a distinguished chef cum restauranteur, who co-owns and runs several restaurant chains across India throws light on the challenges.
