Aegon ( AEG ) reported an H1 loss Thursday of 65 million euros ($72.4 million), narrower than a loss of 199 million euros a year earlier.
Operating results for the first half of the year were 750 million euros, compared with 818 million euros a year earlier.
Analysts' estimates were not immediately available for comparison.
Aegon ( AEG ) increased its interim dividend for 2024 to 0.16 euros per share, an increase of 0.02 euros from the interim dividend for 2023.
Aegon ( AEG ) reported operations incurred additional charges in H1 of 403 million euros, including 373 million euros in the Americas that are "mostly related to updated mortality assumptions for universal life and term life products, where the book has been experiencing volatile and unfavorable claims experience."
Shares of Aegon ( AEG ) fell more than 6% in recent premarket activity.
