Update: Air India Boeing 787 Crashes Shortly After Take-Off From Ahmedabad

A Boeing ( BA ) 787-8 aircraft operated by Air India crashed Thursday shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India, en route to London's Gatwick airport, Air India said Thursday on social media platform X.

Boeing ( BA ) shares were down 7.7% in recent premarket activity.

Air India said Flight AI171 was carrying 242 passengers and crew, including 169 Indian, 53 British, one Canadian and seven Portuguese nationals. The air carrier said injured are being transported to the hospitals.

A Boeing ( BA ) spokesperson said the company was in contact with Air India regarding Flight 171 and stands ready to support the airline.
