Update: Alphabet's YouTube Says Disney Pulls Content From YouTube TV
Oct 31, 2025 7:22 AM

10:02 AM EDT, 10/31/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Disney's ( DIS ) response in fourth, fifth and sixth paragraph.)

Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) owned YouTube ( GOOG ) said late Thursday that Disney ( DIS ) suspended its content from YouTube TV after negotiations between the companies failed to reach a deal.

YouTube ( GOOG ) said Disney ( DIS ) used "the threat of a blackout" to push for deal terms that would raise prices for YouTube TV customers while benefiting Disney's ( DIS ) own live TV products, including Hulu + Live TV and Fubo.

The company said it continues to seek a "fair agreement" to restore Disney ( DIS ) channels on YouTube TV and will offer subscribers a $20 credit if the content remains unavailable for an extended period.

A Disney ( DIS ) spokesperson said in an e-mail statement to MT Newswires that "unfortunately, Google's ( GOOG ) YouTube TV has chosen to deny their subscribers the content they value most by refusing to pay fair rates for our channels, including ESPN ( DIS ) and ABC."

The spokesperson said Google TV subscribers will no longer have access to Disney ( DIS ) programming, including live events like NFL, NBA and college football, without a new agreement in place.

"With a $3 trillion market cap, Google ( GOOG ) is using its market dominance to eliminate competition and undercut the industry-standard terms we've successfully negotiated with every other distributor. We know how frustrating this is for YouTube TV subscribers and remain committed to working toward a resolution as quickly as possible," the spokesperson added.
