Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) and Cisco Systems ( CSCO ) agreed to form a joint venture with Saudi Arabia's Humain to build AI data centers.

The venture plans to deploy up to 1 gigawatt of AI infrastructure by 2030, with a goal of expanding capacity to multiple gigawatts, Humain said Wednesday in a statement.

A build-out of 100 megawatts is planned for construction in 2026 in Saudi Arabia, with Cisco ( CSCO ) providing infrastructure, AMD supplying its MI450 AI chips, and Humain delivering data center capacity, Humain said.

The venture's first customer is generative video startup Luma AI, which will purchase 100 megawatts of computing capacity from the data center project in Saudi Arabia, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing Humain Chief Executive Officer Tareq Amin.

AMD and Cisco ( CSCO ) will be minority shareholders in the venture, while Humain will take the lead, AMD CEO Lisa Su said, according to Reuters.

AMD shares fell 3.9% in recent Wednesday trading, and Cisco ( CSCO ) rose 1.5%.
