Update: American Airlines Must Face Lawsuit Over Pilots' Paid Military Leave
May 21, 2024 11:03 AM

01:43 PM EDT, 05/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with attempt to reach American Airlines ( AAL ) for comment.)

American Airlines Group ( AAL ) is facing a legal challenge after a federal appeals court on Tuesday revived a portion of a lawsuit filed by its pilots for failure to pay them for short-term military leave.

The US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit reversed a lower court's judgement in favor of the company regarding the plaintiff's claim that American Airlines ( AAL ) violated the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994.

However, the appeals court affirmed a district court's ruling in favor of American Airlines ( AAL ) regarding the plaintiff's claim of breach of contract.

American Airlines ( AAL ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
