Apple ( AAPL ) has blocked the "Fortnite" video game's submission, preventing its release on the US App Store or to the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union, Fortnite said Friday.

"Fortnite on iOS will be offline worldwide until Apple ( AAPL ) unblocks it," Fortnite said in a social media post.

An Apple ( AAPL ) spokesperson told Bloomberg the company "did not take any action to remove the live version of Fortnite from alternative distribution marketplaces."

The company said it had asked Epic's European division, Epic Sweden, to resubmit the app update without including the US storefront so as not to impact Fortnite in other geographies.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
