Sep 29, 2025 8:02 AM

10:16 AM EDT, 09/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Boeing's ( BA ) reply in the last paragraph.)

Boeing ( BA ) agreed to pay at least $50,000 to settle a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of John Barnett, a former employee and whistleblower who died by suicide in March 2024, media outlets reported Friday and Saturday.

Barnett, who had worked at Boeing's ( BA ) 787 Dreamliner factories in North Charleston, South Carolina, alleged he faced retaliation for flagging safety concerns at the company.

Boeing ( BA ) and plaintiffs agreed to a settlement that dismissed claims, including the case pursued by Barnett at the time of his death, the reports said.

"Boeing ( BA ) took actions several years ago to review and address the issues that Mr. Barnett raised," the company told MT Newswires, adding that it offers its condolences to his family.
