Update: Charter Communications Shares Rise After Q2 Results Beat

Charter Communications ( CHTR ) shares were up more than 17% in midday trading Friday after the company posted better-than-expected Q2 results

The company reported Q2 earnings of $8.49 per diluted share, up from $8.05 a year earlier.

Analysts polled by Capital IQ expected $8 per share.

Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $13.69 billion, compared with $13.66 billion a year ago.

Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ expected $13.60 billion.
